3. How We Use Your Information

Indie Streams uses personal information for legitimate platform operations, including:

Account management: Creating, authenticating, maintaining, and securing user accounts.

Subscription administration: Processing and verifying subscription payments, managing renewals, and determining full-song access.

Music streaming: Delivering previews and full-length playback according to your membership and artist selections.

Artist revenue sharing: Calculating supporter-based earnings, managing payment approvals, and producing financial reports.

Artist analytics: Providing artists with relevant information about their supporters and platform performance.

Customer support: Responding to questions, technical problems, complaints, account requests, and disputes.

Service communications: Sending important information about subscriptions, account security, payment changes, and platform operations.

Platform improvement: Analyzing usage trends, correcting technical problems, and improving service quality.

Fraud prevention and compliance: Detecting unauthorized access, suspicious transactions, account abuse, or other unlawful activity.

Promotional communications: Sending newsletters or promotional announcements where legally permitted and subject to available unsubscribe choices.

We aim to use information only for purposes that are reasonably necessary, disclosed, and permitted by applicable law.

4. Your Artist Selections and Supporter Privacy

One of the defining features of Indie Streams is its direct artist-support model.

Eligible paying listeners may select up to 10 independent artists during their monthly membership period. These selections determine which artists receive supporter-based revenue allocations.

Information Used for Revenue Sharing

Indie Streams may associate the following information:

  • A listener’s account or subscriber identifier.
  • The artists selected for support.
  • The applicable membership period.
  • Membership payment verification.
  • Revenue amounts attributed to each supported artist.

This information is used to calculate artist support and manage revenue distribution.

Information Available to Artists

Artists may receive dashboard information showing:

  • The number of listeners supporting them.
  • Supporter activity associated with their artist account.
  • Supporter-based earnings.
  • Revenue periods and payment status.

If identified-supporter features are enabled, an artist may also be able to view the display name or email address of listeners who selected that artist. Indie Streams will provide appropriate notice and obtain consent where required before enabling identifiable supporter disclosures.

Artists are not entitled to see a listener’s complete payment information, password, or unrelated account activity.

Artists receiving supporter information must use that information only for authorized purposes. They may not misuse supporter contact information, sell supporter lists, or send unrelated marketing messages without appropriate authorization.

Your support of an artist does not automatically authorize that artist to use your email address for independent marketing.

5. Payment Processing Through Square

Indie Streams uses Square for supported subscription payment processing and related transaction services.

When you purchase a subscription or make an eligible payment, Square may collect and process information such as:

  • Payment card details.
  • Billing information.
  • Transaction amount.
  • Transaction date.
  • Payment authorization results.
  • Information needed for fraud prevention.

Square ordinarily handles payment-card processing through its own payment infrastructure. Indie Streams receives information needed to reconcile transactions, confirm subscriptions, and manage access.

We do not need your complete card number or card security code for routine membership verification.

Square maintains its own privacy and security practices, which are separate from this policy.

For additional information, visit:

https://squareup.com/us/en/legal/general/buyer-features

6. Subscription Verification and Membership Access

Indie Streams uses subscription information to determine whether listeners qualify for full-length playback.

Membership verification may involve matching:

  • Your Indie Streams account.
  • Your Square subscription record.
  • Your subscription status.
  • Your selected artists.
  • The current membership period.

This process helps prevent unauthorized access and makes it possible to restore listening privileges for verified subscribers.

If a subscription is canceled, expires, or payment cannot be verified, Indie Streams may retain relevant membership records for lawful accounting, customer support, dispute resolution, and fraud-prevention purposes.

7. Music Uploads and Public Artist Content

Artists may upload music, album artwork, images, profile descriptions, and other materials to Indie Streams.

Information that artists intentionally publish in their profiles, albums, or music listings may be visible to website visitors and registered subscribers.

Please avoid placing sensitive personal information in publicly accessible artist biographies, uploaded media, image descriptions, or music metadata.

Indie Streams may process uploaded content to:

  • Store and display music.
  • Deliver audio streaming.
  • Generate previews.
  • Maintain album and playlist organization.
  • Support artist discovery.
  • Detect technical errors or violations of platform rules.

Publicly accessible content may be viewed, copied, or indexed by third parties beyond our direct control.

Deleting content from Indie Streams does not guarantee removal of copies previously saved or indexed by outside parties.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Indie Streams and its service providers may use cookies and similar technologies.

These technologies can help us:

  • Keep users signed in.
  • Remember account preferences.
  • Maintain secure website sessions.
  • Support payment and membership functionality.
  • Remember interface settings.
  • Measure website performance.
  • Prevent fraudulent or automated activity.

Cookies may include essential cookies, preference cookies, and analytics cookies.

Nonessential analytics or advertising technologies, if used, will be subject to applicable notice and consent requirements.

You can manage many cookies through your browser settings and any privacy controls available on our website.

Disabling essential cookies may prevent some features, including login sessions or payment verification, from functioning correctly.

9. Website Analytics and Performance Monitoring

Indie Streams may use website analytics, server logs, and other performance-monitoring tools to evaluate how the platform operates.

Such tools may process information about page visits, devices, technical errors, navigation, and website performance.

Where analytics involve personal information, we will handle that information according to this Privacy Policy and applicable requirements.

We aim to limit the collection of information to what is reasonably necessary to understand and improve the service.

10. Sharing Information With Third Parties

We may disclose personal information to third parties when necessary to provide our services, fulfill legal obligations, or carry out a disclosed activity.

These parties may include:

Payment processors: Square and other approved financial service providers performing authorized transactions.

Hosting and infrastructure providers: Businesses providing website hosting, server maintenance, storage, backups, and security.

Email and communication services: Providers delivering account notifications, payment messages, and customer support communications.

Technical service providers: Authorized developers or software providers supporting WordPress, plugins, membership verification, or streaming operations.

Participating artists: Limited supporter and revenue information as described in Section 4.

Legal and regulatory authorities: When reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, protect rights, or investigate suspected misconduct.

Business transaction participants: In connection with a legitimate merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of business assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.

We expect service providers handling personal information on our behalf to use it for authorized purposes and apply appropriate safeguards.

11. Sale of Personal Information and Advertising

Indie Streams is designed to generate revenue through music subscriptions and artist services, not through selling listener contact lists.

We do not intend to operate as a personal-data broker.

Certain advertising technologies, if introduced, could involve disclosures or data sharing that qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” under some privacy laws, even when no money is exchanged for the information.

Before implementing such arrangements, we will provide any legally required notices, consent mechanisms, and opt-out rights.

Users may contact Indie Streams with questions about whether particular advertising or data-sharing practices apply to their information.

12. Marketing Emails and Communications

Indie Streams may contact users about:

  • Registration and account confirmation.
  • Subscription verification.
  • Payment problems.
  • Renewals and cancellations.
  • Account security.
  • Service changes.
  • Technical support.
  • New features and platform announcements.
  • Optional promotions and newsletters.

Where promotional emails are sent, users will have access to an appropriate unsubscribe method.

Unsubscribing from promotional communications does not prevent us from sending important transactional or security-related messages.

13. Data Retention

Indie Streams retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or satisfy applicable legal obligations.

Retention depends on the type of information and the reason it is needed.

For example:

  • Account data: While the account remains active and for a limited period afterward when necessary.
  • Subscription records: As required for billing, payment reconciliation, disputes, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
  • Artist financial records: As needed for revenue reporting, tax responsibilities, audits, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Streaming activity: For operational, reporting, analytical, and security purposes, subject to appropriate retention limits.
  • Technical logs: For the period needed to maintain security and diagnose service problems.
  • Support communications: As needed to resolve issues and document legitimate service activity.

When information is no longer necessary, we will delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it using appropriate procedures.

Backup copies and legally required records may remain for a limited period after an account has been deleted.

14. Data Security

Protecting subscriber and artist information is an important part of operating Indie Streams.

We use or seek to maintain reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational security measures appropriate to the information involved.

These may include:

  • Encrypted HTTPS connections.
  • Password hashing and protected authentication.
  • Restricted administrative access.
  • Security updates.
  • Hosting safeguards.
  • Monitoring for suspicious activities.
  • Data backups and recovery procedures.
  • Appropriate controls for payment and membership information.

No online platform, server, or data-transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users should protect their login credentials, use strong passwords, and notify us if they suspect unauthorized access to their accounts.

If a security incident occurs, we will investigate and provide notices when required by applicable law.

15. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we maintain about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of eligible personal information.
  • Obtain a copy of certain personal information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.
  • Opt out of certain targeted advertising or personal-data sales, if applicable.
  • Request limitations on certain sensitive-data processing where legally required.
  • Appeal a denied privacy request where applicable law provides that right.

You may also be able to update certain account details directly through your Indie Streams account.

To submit a privacy request, contact us using the information provided at the end of this policy.

We may need to verify your identity before completing requests involving personal information.

We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain when a legal exception prevents us from fulfilling a request.

Indie Streams will not unlawfully discriminate against users for exercising their privacy rights.

16. Subscription Cancellation and Account Deletion

We recognize that listeners and artists may decide to discontinue using Indie Streams.

Canceling a Listener Subscription

A listener may request cancellation of their recurring subscription through the cancellation process made available by Indie Streams or the applicable billing provider.

Canceling a paid subscription does not necessarily delete the associated Indie Streams account.

Payment records may be retained when necessary for legitimate financial or legal purposes.

Deleting an Indie Streams Account

Users may request deletion of their account and eligible personal information.

Depending on the available account-management features, users may submit this request through their account settings or by contacting our support team.

Account deletion may result in the loss of:

  • Saved artist selections.
  • Membership preferences.
  • Account profile information.
  • Access to subscriber-only content.
  • Artist management features.
  • Associated playlist or music-management information.

For artists, deletion of a profile or account may also affect published music, artwork, playlists, and other hosted content.

Outstanding payment obligations, legally required transaction records, and certain dispute-related information may need to be retained.

Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions. Users should confirm that recurring billing has been canceled rather than assuming that deleting an account automatically terminates a payment arrangement.

17. Children’s Privacy and Age Requirements

Indie Streams is intended for users who are at least 18 years old.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 or knowingly permit them to create accounts.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally valid authorization, we will take steps required by applicable law, including deletion where appropriate.

Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided information to Indie Streams should contact us.

18. International Users

Indie Streams is operated primarily for a United States-based service.

If you access the platform from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.

Privacy laws and data-protection standards may differ between jurisdictions.

Where applicable law requires additional protections for international data transfers, we will implement the necessary safeguards.

If Indie Streams offers services to users in jurisdictions with additional privacy rights, we will provide any supplemental disclosures required by those laws.

19. Third-Party Links and External Websites

Artist profiles may contain links to third-party websites, merchandise shops, social media platforms, and other online services.

These websites operate independently from Indie Streams.

We are not responsible for their separate privacy practices or data-collection methods.

We encourage users to review the privacy policies of external websites before submitting personal information.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Indie Streams may update this Privacy Policy to reflect:

  • New features.
  • Changes to streaming technology.
  • Payment system updates.
  • New artist tools.
  • Legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Changes in information collection or processing.

When changes are made, we will update the “Last Updated” date.

If a change is material, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where legally required.

We encourage users to review this policy periodically.
